Lifesavers Practice #11: A Review

Good work last night everyone. I was a little worried that the threatening skies would turn people away from practice, but we had a decent sized group. I know the practice was tough, especially with just 13 people. However, you all pushed through and made it a good one.

Please remember that there is no practice Tuesday to accommodate the long weekend.

Also, the t-shirts have arrived and some of you have already received them. Everyone else, they're waiting for you at the club. Come on out to practice and you'll get your 2007 team shirt.

Have a great weekend. I will update the blog as of next Thursday. Until then, it and I are taking a little break.

New Photos:
Thanks to Cimon, Stormriders photos from the Lachine Festival have been added in the Photos section of the blog. Enjoy!

Stormriders Practice #8: A Review

Lucky for us, we rode out the storm (must have been because you guys are the Storm-Riders...) After that practice, I'm sure many of you were hoping a storm would have cut it short.

However, you all worked really hard and I was impressed with how the boat was feeling. As a whole, we are really starting to understand how to hit the catch and reach up front. Good work.

Edith, please e-mail me and let me know what is going on for next Tuesday. It really isn't a problem if you guys want to keep the Tuesday practice instead of switching to Thursday.

Lifesavers Practice #10: A Review

Nice work last night. The practice certainly wasn't easy. But, it's time to get things going in case we come across any 500 metre races this summer. Expect to be working more and more in those energy systems.

I saw a big improvement last night in terms of getting up to the catch and dropping your body weight onto the paddle. This is something we will keep working on as it is very important.

Luckily, we made it through the night without any storms.

Please remember that we are practicing this Thursday but not next Tuesday because of the long weekend. See you all tomorrow.

Thunderstorms Tonight- June 19, 2007- Update: 3:15pm

It looks like we may be in for a night of thunderstorms and rain. Rain isn't a problem. We'll still go out. However, if, let's say 30 minutes before the regularly scheduled practice time there is a thunderstorm going on, please assume we will not be going on the water.

Stormriders: If your practice ends up getting canceled tonight, we can move it to Thursday instead if that works for everyone. It would be at the same time as the normal Tuesday practice.

Lifesavers: If your practice gets canceled tonight, we can add it onto either this Thursday or next Tuesday (the two practices we had not yet figured out which will be not held because of the long weekend. This is something we need to decide tonight.)

If anyone is burning to get in some physical activity, I can run a circuit at the club.

If there's a storm, please don't make the trek into Lachine unless you want to do the circuit. I don't want anyone wasting gas and time for nothing!

June 19, 2007

The weather is getting very hot. Everyone, please remember to bring a water bottle to practice from now on. (If you haven't already been bringing one, of course.)

If possible, I would like to know this week what races both teams (Lifesavers and Stormriders) are planning to do for the rest of the summer.

Don't forget, the practices can be found in the "On-Water" section. See you all tonight.
