Lifesavers Practice #7: A Review
Thanks to those who showed up last night. For those of you who weren't able to make it, I understand there was a lot of traffic on the Ville-Marie last night. I hope you all have the intention to race tomorrow!
Just some information about the races tomorrow since we didn't have a chance to go over this last night as a group.
- please arrive at 7:30am
- meet Sham and the group on the side opposite the club (across the bridge) near the shore. You should see everyone.
- we will be mixing with some other people from Lachine to complete our boat. I ask for everyone's cooperation in making this smooth. It has been quite a challenge to make sure the boat will be racing at all!
If you have any questions, please e-mail me directly. I will respond this evening. I am working for the rest of the day.
Thanks and see you all tomorrow. Let's get ready to race!
StormRiders Practice #6: A Review
I was really pleased with last night's practice. Everyone was paddling very well. The additional emphasis on the catch as well as adding that 'hit and glide' rhythm really helped. Well done.
I hope everyone is looking forward to racing this weekend. You will be able to find me at the club before your race. Mark has my cell phone number. I will do my best to keep my phone with me at all times in case I need to be reached. At worst, if you can't find me, ask the announcer to call me over the loudspeaker.
See you all tomorrow. Let's get ready to race!

Great work last night everyone! Everyone paddled really well together and the technique was looking great...
Alright, alright... I'm kidding. For those of you who showed up, thanks for making the effort to come down. No one was expecting the wind to come up so fast. It still hasn't died down! When the storm looked like it was going to pass, I was sure we were going to go out. Once the wind picked up, it was too late to rearrange the club upstairs to set up a circuit. There's a lot of stuff up there and we would have spent most of the time moving and not enough time doing a workout. With the festival coming up this weekend, the club is packed with stuff. We were keeping our fingers crossed that this week wouldn't have been the one where bad weather would strike.
For those of you who weren't there last night, we still have practice tomorrow evening (for both the Stormriders and Lifesavers.) Last one before Lachine, so let's go for a big turnout! I want to work on technique and some 200m pieces. The practices from last night will be carried over to tomorrow.
Lifesavers: we have some news on your t-shirts. We are looking into getting a different model to keep the same colours as before. If that doesn't work, navy and red in the model that you saw will have to be what we go with. Again, I apologize for this.
Stormriders: we're keeping our fingers crossed that your shirts arrive before the weekend. If not, thanks to Cimon for helping us out with shirts.
See you all tomorrow.

Les pratiques ce soir ne seront pas annulées à cause de la pluie. Si on a un orage, on va simplement faire quelque chose d’autre.
S’il vous plait vous présenter pour vos sessions d’entraînement normales.
Merci.
Just in case anyone was wondering, (since I just noticed the traffic went up during the thunderstorm) practices will be going on as normal tonight. If a storm hits during the practice time, we will do something else. Even if it is raining, we will be going on the water. Please show up for the regularly scheduled training session.
Thanks.

Lifesavers and Stormriders: I received some unfortunate news regarding the t-shirts this weekend. They may not be ready for the Lachine festival. It is still possible, but the order, because of the size, is taking a little longer to arrive than originally planned. I'm terribly sorry about this. The time frame I was given was supposed to work. Another lesson learned, I suppose.
However, we should still have enough t-shirts from last year's members that it won't be a problem. In general, this is the first race of the season for most teams, so not everyone will be fully decked out.
Stormriders: I think most people still have the original orange from last year. If there are any new members that don't have one, perhaps we could try to borrow from the people from last year who won't be racing.
Lifesavers: There are still lots of people who have a shirt from last year that are on the team this year. If we don't get the shirts on time, why don't we wear those and everyone else that doesn't have one can wear black? I think it would be a decent solution.
Anyway, sorry about this. I am going to push to have them ready as soon as possible.
