Weekly News and Updates: August 13-19, 2007

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Life has been quite busy!

Anyway, this will be the last post for the 2007 Lachine Dragon Boat season. The blog will remain active until next season's debut in May, however, very little information will change until preparations begin for the 2008 season.

I want to thank all the teams who trained and raced out of the Lachine Racing Canoe Club. You all made the debut season of the new program a great success. When the season started out, no one, including myself and the club, were sure how things would work out. I'm glad to say that we were all pleasantly surprised. The club has even decided to purchase a new boat this fall for next year.

Now, a few words about the individual teams.

StormRiders: What can I say about you guys? You never ceased to amaze me. We trained almost half the amount as last year and made significant improvements. We moved all the way up to the B-Final at the Montreal Festival and crushed last year's times. You were all very fun to coach (and share the occasional drink with!) I hope to see you all back next year.

Lifesavers: Once again, we had an awesome group of people this year. Although the season didn't turn out exactly how many of us would have imagined, I think we made the best of the situation by making sure we trained well, raced when we could and supported each other throughout the season. I always enjoy coaching you guys and I hope we are able to regroup for something great next year.

For those of you who are racing at Rawdon this weekend, good luck!

ActionSport: My rookie division champs! You guys pulled off an amazing feat after just 4 practices on the water. Way to go. As a group, you have tremendous potential. I really hope to see you back next year but this time a little earlier on in the season!

Again, thanks everyone for a great season. If ever any of the groups want to get together for an outing this fall, please don't hesitate to contact me.

If I don't see you until next year, have a good, healthy winter.

Cheers,
-Adam
